Fire Safety in the Home

This interactive course, is co-produced and delivered with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and will help you reduce the risk of fire in your home. Fires can be devastating but the good news is that most can be prevented. Through this course you will develop a good understanding of the main causes of fire in your home and how small changes to the way you live can have a big impact on reducing your fire risk. Come along and learn about risk reduction, smoke detection, safe bedtime routines and escape planning so that you and your family can be safe and well at home.

The delivery of the course will utilise a wide range of visual and practical based tasks and activities to suit everyone’s learning style. We will provide students with the option to visit GMFRS’s Safety Centre in Bury which provides an immersive and interactive learning environment to bring their learning to life, with lunch provided.

All attendees will receive a special GMFRS attendance certificate.

(Please note that the practical part of this course may involve exposure to smells, sights and sounds that might be difficult for some – if you have concerns please speak to a member of staff for more details).
